Two worlds, one purpose

The celebration in Mexico of the CIB-W104 Open Building Conference brings together colleagues from two worlds who share histories, searches and achievements oriented by principles such as freedom to inhabit, participation, flexibility, the search for quality, and rational use of resources in the permanent production and transformation of human living space.
But we can not deny that this common will works in very different contexts: that of the developed North with its abundance of financial and technological resources, and that of the poorly-paid South, in which most of our population confronts serious economic limitations and difficult access to the information and technological advances of our times.
Concerns of European and other developed-world participants in regard to economic rationalization, costs, and resource-imposed conditions, contrast with the creative spontaneity of our majority sectors conditioned in turn by poverty and lack of state supports.
